In the book
of Fr. William Malley, SJ, the term Alethialogy is derived from two Greek words: Aletheia
(truth) and logia (study of) which means in simpler terms as the study of
truth. In man’s journey towards seeking the truth, he must use his giftedness
such as the rationality in order to unveil the truth that he is looking for.
But using his rationality can never be enough, man must be able to transcend
his level of reasoning into the level of genuine truth – the truth of all the
truths. Then, how can man reach to the truth of all the truths? At this point,
man is no longer challenge in finding the answer into the physical realms but
he needs to go beyond the material world by reaching the uncreated world. This
is the world in which man can only attain through spiritualization. Man must be
able to communicate to his ultimate maker – the Creator of heavens and of
earth. This must be God as what St Thomas Aquinas would try to elaborate on his
book: Proofs of God’s Existence. In the book, it presented the dependence of
man to God as the First Mover, the Uncaused cause, and the Source of all. St Thomas would speak on how man must realize
his very value and importance that is coming from God as the source. Without
the idea of God, man’s existence is impossible. The truth about human person is
that, man is connected to God and he will always be part of God, since God is
the creator of him. Thus, man must be able to live life in accordance to the
perfection of the maker – God. But since man is temporal, he sometimes go in
different ways, forgetting his ultimate purpose of living in accordance to the
perspective of God. This reality seems too unreasonable to the nature of man
and of God. But since the reality is continuous, the notion must be, that God
as the creator – allowed man to exercise his rationality and freedom
responsibly. This special feature given by God to man serves as man’s unique
and dignified gift from the creator compared to the rest of the creations.
Thus, the truth of the human person must be originated from the reality of a
perfect God, perfectly creates every human person in an unique and brilliant
way. The dependence of man to God serves as his perfect truth and vitality.
Without God, man is nothing and man can never become into something. In the
end, the
ultimate search of man for the truth and vitality ends the moment he finds God
in his midst. That moment is the Kairos – the moment with God. May we arrived
to that moment in which God is ever present and near to us.
Jesus, the Living Bread John 6:51, 54-57 I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.” The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me. Shedding the Light The Holy Eucharist is the summit of all prayers. We come together as one people of God in a special celebra...
