Family - the Modern Disciples of Christ

Family is the perfect community of hope, peace, mercy and love. It is the foundation of God’s revealing love that empowers each of its members to transform the whole fabric of the society. In Asia, family is described and enriched by the different cultures, beliefs, principles and societal standards. Family serves as the perfect epitome of solidarity and holistic development. But despite of all these expected realities, on the other side of the coin, family can also be the source of domestic and selfish violence. As far as we expect and consider, family is viewed, as a positive energy that must be shared and channeled to others, but then, now it becomes a community that depicts an abusive dynamism to humanity. Many families in Asia are now challenged to different kinds of marital problems that led to adultery, polygamy and even incest. Married couples are now manipulated by their selfish desires and personal reasons and the most affected by this scenario are the innocent children. The role of parents as a guide, formator and lover to their children is now replaced by anger, revenge, stress and selfishness. The tension that creates division to families blocks the intimate relationship of its members and definitely, later will destroy the sanctity of its origin.
The Church in Asia, now finally calls the radical formation of families that can help resolve the prevalent issues concerning family relationships. This year, we celebrate the year of the communities – “The Parish” where evangelization and communal love prevails. The core of these communities is directed to the basic unit of the society – the Family. The aim of the Church is to protect, nurture and enrich the family as the main ingredient of societal transformation. Family is called for an active involvement in the local church and become modern Disciples of Christ to all. The life of the Church depend to the modern agents of Christ – the Family and it is our responsibility to enliven and protect it from any threat of its division.
Today, family continuously journeys to what the modern world entice and may provide but with the constant guide of the Church, family may develop an intimate relationship with God holding an unwavering faith that all shall be well. Similarly, Christ establishes His disciples by forming people whom He considered important and later called as Christians – the community of Christ’s followers. It has to experience difficulty but in the end, it remained victorious and faithful to its covenant with God. In today’s context, family may not be as perfect and worthy to be given such significance but then, by and through God’s Divine democracy - it enables us to receive the “infinite worth” to change all the families and be followers of Christ.
Thus, the Church with her zealous passion of protecting and enriching all the families can only make it, if and only if these families may allow the grace and love of God be on their midst and direct their whole being back to Him. In the end, the mission of the Church to form communities are now translated and still be on the process of educating, empowering, transforming and above all calling families to live in Holiness.

Jesus, the Living Bread John 6:51, 54-57 I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.” The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me.  Shedding the Light The Holy Eucharist is the summit of all prayers. We come together as one people of God in a special celebration of faith, love and gener

Alethialogy of the Human Person

In the book of Fr. William Malley, SJ, the term Alethialogy is derived from two Greek words: Aletheia (truth) and logia (study of) which means in simpler terms as the study of truth. In man’s journey towards seeking the truth, he must use his giftedness such as the rationality in order to unveil the truth that he is looking for. But using his rationality can never be enough, man must be able to transcend his level of reasoning into the level of genuine truth – the truth of all the truths. Then, how can man reach to the truth of all the truths? At this point, man is no longer challenge in finding the answer into the physical realms but he needs to go beyond the material world by reaching the uncreated world. This is the world in which man can only attain through spiritualization. Man must be able to communicate to his ultimate maker – the Creator of heavens and of earth. This must be God as what St Thomas Aquinas would try to elaborate on his book: Proofs of God’s Existence. In the b

Divine Mercy Sunday

Have you ever thought about how much God loves us?   The love of God for us is beyond our imagination. His love is transformative, changing His beloved into a new creation. His greatest love was bestowed upon us by sending His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross and save us from sin, despite our unworthiness. God chose to love us unconditionally, taking a risk, knowing that we may or may not reciprocate the love He offers us. Today, the entire Catholic Church celebrates Divine Mercy Sunday, remembering how Jesus' love saved us and washed away our sins through the water and blood of His love for us. How much do you love Jesus? Are you willing to choose and follow Him? Deus Caritas est

“Nothing is more practical than finding God, that is, than falling in a love in a quite absolute, final way. What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination will affect everything. It will decide what will get you out of bed in the mornings, what you will do with your evenings, how you spend your weekends, what you read, who you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude. Fall in love, stay in love, and it will decide everything.” -Pedro Arrupe, SJ 27th Superior General of the Society of Jesus

God is Real

Summary of the Book:  A GOD THAT COULD BE REAL- SPIRITUALITY, SCIENCE, AND THE FUTURE OF OUR PLANET Most of us still believe of the Biblical perspective of the world. We people commonly rely on the idea of God by a traditional manner, allowing ourselves to much immerse to what the teachings of the Church inculcates us, separating the scientific lens of seeing the world and its origin and then conclude that God is the sole creator of all that exists in this vast universe. Nancy Ellen Abrams started her point to the prevalent issue concerning women in the society. How the world would discredit and treated women lesser than men. Without recognizing the major contributions of women in the development of the societal dynamism. This led Nancy to focus on the continuous inquiry of knowing the most popular issue of all times – the Existence of God and how the universe came into reality. For Nancy, 30 years ago, she believes that God was indeed a fiction. Her personal hold clings o
