The Joy of Serving the Lord

As I formally begin my Canali program, I am blessed by how God works in my life, sending good people for me to deeply understand my vocation. I am thrilled to share my experience from the first month working in the different communities to which I am assigned: Our Lady of Lourdes Sunnybank and Emmanuel City Mission.

In OLOL Parish, I have met great people such as Fr Enoch (Parish Priest) Fr. Francisco (Assistant Parish Priest), Miss Pam (Parish Coordinator) and Miss Felicity (Saturday Mass Coordinator). They have supported me with my desire to be part of the different roles in the parish such as Eucharistic Minister, Reader and Mass collector. The parishioners were also welcoming and vibrant, coming from diverse multi-cultural backgrounds.

Before I started my participation, Miss Pam asked me first to go through the safeguarding protocols set by the Parish and Archdiocese of Brisbane. I also had an orientation with Miss Felicity regarding the various roles in the parish. She asked if I was available and could actively support every Saturday evening mass. Without hesitation, I responded with a yes.

Last Saturday, before the mass begin, I had the opportunity to be part of the welcoming team handing over newsletters to the parishioners. I had also the chance to help collect donations during the offertory. During the communion, I had a wonderful experience as the Eucharistic Minister assigned to distribute the Sacred Host. It was a beautiful experience, I found meaning and consolation as I have shared the body of Christ to the faithful.

In ECM, I have met a dynamic, welcoming and life-giving community especially the City Mission volunteers: Robie Jr., Robie Sr., Rita, Dave, Jeane, Daniel and Christian. These people really inspired me how passionate and whole-hearted their service to the needy. ECM is a place where everyone is welcome and accepted with love and dignity. I have witness how the volunteers carried the image of Jesus into the homeless and poor by providing them the necessary needs. I have witness the selflessness of the volunteers as they engaged with the guests. Despite occasional conflicts among guests, they showed patience, opened their listening ears and offered kind service impartially. I have witness one of the guest knelt in front of the venerated Sacred Host praying sincerely which deeply moved me that God works in all of us. I as continuously volunteering myself every Saturday morning at ECM, I have met interesting people who have chosen to volunteer in the service for others without counting the cost. ECM had really a special place in my heart especially in understanding and seeing those people who really in need the most.

Every Sunday, I have attended also mass with the Emmanuel community. I have witness how dedicated and gifted the community which i considered it as a welcoming family. There were no dull moments since lots of activities they offered for the children, youth and adult which are all centered into the life and mission of the Church. Recently, Luke and Brittanny responded of my desire to volunteer every Sunday mass at ECM as a Reader and Eucharistic Minister. I am happy that they have considered me and will include me in the upcoming Mass schedules.

Indeed, everything unfolds in God’s grace. I am thankful that He is giving me wonderful people with so much love and dedication in the service of the Church. His surprises continually amaze me. I pray that I can remain open to His Holy Spirit’s promptings, allowing me to discern deeply where He is leading me.

Jesus, the Living Bread John 6:51, 54-57 I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.” The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me.  Shedding the Light The Holy Eucharist is the summit of all prayers. We come together as one people of God in a special celebration of faith, love and gener

Alethialogy of the Human Person

In the book of Fr. William Malley, SJ, the term Alethialogy is derived from two Greek words: Aletheia (truth) and logia (study of) which means in simpler terms as the study of truth. In man’s journey towards seeking the truth, he must use his giftedness such as the rationality in order to unveil the truth that he is looking for. But using his rationality can never be enough, man must be able to transcend his level of reasoning into the level of genuine truth – the truth of all the truths. Then, how can man reach to the truth of all the truths? At this point, man is no longer challenge in finding the answer into the physical realms but he needs to go beyond the material world by reaching the uncreated world. This is the world in which man can only attain through spiritualization. Man must be able to communicate to his ultimate maker – the Creator of heavens and of earth. This must be God as what St Thomas Aquinas would try to elaborate on his book: Proofs of God’s Existence. In the b

Divine Mercy Sunday

Have you ever thought about how much God loves us?   The love of God for us is beyond our imagination. His love is transformative, changing His beloved into a new creation. His greatest love was bestowed upon us by sending His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross and save us from sin, despite our unworthiness. God chose to love us unconditionally, taking a risk, knowing that we may or may not reciprocate the love He offers us. Today, the entire Catholic Church celebrates Divine Mercy Sunday, remembering how Jesus' love saved us and washed away our sins through the water and blood of His love for us. How much do you love Jesus? Are you willing to choose and follow Him? Deus Caritas est

“Nothing is more practical than finding God, that is, than falling in a love in a quite absolute, final way. What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination will affect everything. It will decide what will get you out of bed in the mornings, what you will do with your evenings, how you spend your weekends, what you read, who you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude. Fall in love, stay in love, and it will decide everything.” -Pedro Arrupe, SJ 27th Superior General of the Society of Jesus

God is Real

Summary of the Book:  A GOD THAT COULD BE REAL- SPIRITUALITY, SCIENCE, AND THE FUTURE OF OUR PLANET Most of us still believe of the Biblical perspective of the world. We people commonly rely on the idea of God by a traditional manner, allowing ourselves to much immerse to what the teachings of the Church inculcates us, separating the scientific lens of seeing the world and its origin and then conclude that God is the sole creator of all that exists in this vast universe. Nancy Ellen Abrams started her point to the prevalent issue concerning women in the society. How the world would discredit and treated women lesser than men. Without recognizing the major contributions of women in the development of the societal dynamism. This led Nancy to focus on the continuous inquiry of knowing the most popular issue of all times – the Existence of God and how the universe came into reality. For Nancy, 30 years ago, she believes that God was indeed a fiction. Her personal hold clings o
